On Saturday 23rd March Meath Minors travelled to Annanough GAA to face Laois in the Leinster Minor Championship 2nd round tie. Meath faced a stiff breeze for the first half but dominated the first half scoring 7-04 to 0-03. Orlaith Reilly claimed 4 goals in that total with Kerrie Cole, Anna Moyles and Emily Morgan also accurate in front of the net. First half points from Cliodhna Smith (2 frees), Sarah O'Gorman and Kerrie Cole kept them ahead of Laois who picked up 2 frees and a point from play from the boot of Aoibhe Byron.

After the break Meath continued in the same form, despite some resilience from Laois in the first 5 minutes of the second half but they could not convert chances. Muireann Nelson came on at half time and wasted no time in scoring, with a goal and 2 frees scored in the first 8 minutes of the 2nd half. Kerrie Cole picked off a point from play and Anna Moyles followed suit after 40 minutes to stretch the lead. Niamh McGuinness pointed on 41 minutes after a good run down the field before Byron pointed another free for Laois and followed that up with another free and an excellent point from play. Muireann Nelson pointed a free for Meath and Poppy Byrne, who came on for the excellent Orlaith Reilly, fired one to the net on 52 minutes. Lauren Woods scored a point from play on 55 minutes and Muireann Nelson pointed a free on 56 minutes. Lauren Woods finished to the net under pressure to reset the goals scored on the scoreboard to zero. Muireann Nelson tapped over another free and Poppy Byrne rounded off the win with a goal on 57 minutes.

A dominant performance from Meath to which Laois had no answers to.
