Fixtures Update

It has been a busy two weekends since Meath ladies beat Cork in the 7th round of the Lidl NFL Division 1 in Páirc Tailteann. This left them 4th in the table and was good opportunity to get members of the panel onto the pitch in preparation for Championship. The ladies are busy preparing for the start of the Leinster Championship on 21st April v Laois in Dunboyne and the 2nd round v Kildare in Páirc Tailteann a week later.
Meanwhile the Under 14’s, Under 16’s and Minor Leinster Championships are in full flow.
The Minors got through to the ‘A’ Final to be played on Sunday 14th April. Their match in Dunganny was a dress rehearsal for the Final but as news came through that Dublin failed to beat Laois by enough to ensure their score difference bettered Meath’s, and Meath despite being beaten by Kildare on Saturday it meant Meath and Kildare will contest the final. The performance in the final will have to improve as Kildare proved to be formidable opponents.
The Under 16’s lost to Kilkenny on Saturday in Bective GFA but will contest the ‘B’ Semi Final on Saturday the 13th April, venue, time and opponent to be advised.
The Under 14’s have also made the semi final stage playing Kildare on Saturday 6th April with venue and time to be advised. The Under 14’s completed their second stage games beating Offaly comfortably and playing Longford in a game of end to end football. Both teams gave their all with Meath coming out on top on a scoreline of 3-10 to 3-03. Best for the Meath team were Neasa Magee with a haul of 4 points from play, Ruby Whelan in defence, Ceire Quinn with 2 points, Zara McKeigue and Emma Donoghue with a point apiece. Chloe Callaghan made a fine contribution with a hat-trick of goals, a penalty and two from play, one of which was a superbly taken chip to the top corner. A special mention for Sarah Murphy in goals who pulled off some excellent saves to thwart the Longford attack.
