Under 16's make Leinster Final!

  • Apr 18,2025

The Meath Under 16's have made it to the Leinster final after a gripping semi final match v Louth in Stamullen today. Despite the wet and windy conditions a brilliant game of football unfolded and it was Louth who started the brightest chalking up 4 points to lead before Meath got going scoring 3 points in a row. Both teams were well matched and it was Louth who went into the break with a 4 point lead courtesy of a speculative free that dropped into the Meath net on the stroke of half time.

The second half had Meath playing against the stiff breeze and they soon were going toe to toe with Louth all over the pitch. It was a tense last few minutes as both sides had chances to win it but it ended up as a 0-10 to 1-07 draw at full time. Extra time saw a completely dominant Meath score 4 points without reply in the first period. They kept Louth at bay for the remainder of the extra time and then scored their their last point to ensure they made the final.

It was a whole hearted display of resilience that got Meath over the line and credit is due to Louth for going right till the end.

The Leinster Final is on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May v Westmeath.
