Meath Senior Ladies begin their 2026 Lidl National Football League campaign at home against Galway this Sunday.

 The Royals will be eager to start the season on a high and set the tone in Division 1 as they face a tough Connacht challenge. This season comes with a fresh twist as  the Ladies Gaelic Football Association is trialling 12 playing rule enhancements throughout the league, including the kickout mark, a two-point scoring arc, a “solo & go” option, and tweaks to tackle/controlled contact rules designed to encourage speed, skill and attacking play. There is also the possibility of senior league debuts for up to four players, highlighting the  development and depth within the Meath panel. Galway’s experience and physicality will provide a stern early test in what promises to be an exciting season opener.
